Six U.S. states have designated areas for testing unmanned aircraft for commercial purposes.
The FAA regulatory agency has given permission to different agencies Alaska, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Texas and Virginia to establish areas in open spaces, where drones can operate safely. The tests are primarily for civilian purposes and focus on projects of flight standards, influence of temperature and flight conditions in different states and altitudes.
The president of the FAA, Michael Huerta, said in a statement Monday that the aviation security is the priority and to that end had been granted authorizations for drones testing areas.
The FAA has approved six of the 25 applications submitted from 24 states. Permission extends until February 2017.
