The Government has decided to disable through extinction, divestment or liquidation of a total of 80 public companies dependent on central state administration, including 45 state corporations, 32% of the total, and 9 state foundations. The Spanish government announced the termination of 24 state corporations, 17% of the total, among which is the Public Rental.
For the Executive is the third step in the plan "to put its house in order" in the Administration of the State, through restructuring and rationalization of companies and foundations statewide as municipalities and autonomous regions are already engaged own reduction programs. In this chapter, the Deputy Prime Minister, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria, stressed that the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy and the National Commission for Local Administration will follow an identical process with a commitment to reduce by around 25% of its public enterprises, a measure already approved in 2010 but has not yet been carried out.
Following the meeting of Council of Ministers, Soraya has stressed that only boards, the reduction approved by the Government involves the removal of 154 counselors and these counselors salaries will save 1,083,000 euros, "without the salaries of other members of the boards.
But it is only the first step of a long process because different ministries have to be running these mergers, liquidations, divestitures, etc.. "Each company is different, is a world," remarked Soraya, who gave as an example the presence of companies such as the Barcelona Olympic Holding, "and the Olympics long gone," he recalled wryly.
At the request of journalists, the vice president listed some curious cases of societies where the state retains a stake and which still existed despite the expiration of their activities. Examples, Soraya has listed food company in Spain Carmen 1992, SA
In total, according to the latest inventory to December 31, 2011, the general administration of the state had 228 public and operates on 85. At the regional level the figure is higher and the room even more. Statewide there are 2,372 companies, 626 foundations (only 52 are from the state) and 1,055 consortia.
The Government will create a single body to manage the assets of the State
On the other hand, the vice president announced that the Government will create a single administrative body responsible for state property management and coordination of all ministries in the face of a wise use of their property. According to Saenz de Santamaria said today, the executive will take the next Council of Ministers the simplification of administrative institutions of the state property management.
The State has, through ownership or use loan of more than 53,000 lots, buildings and rural property, "which add up to almost 55,000 in rental buildings." On 28 February, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria has announced the launch of a comprehensive property management after finding that the Central Government has 55,000 buildings and that, paradoxically, spent 100 million euros in rents.
