Like Dulce Chacón's novel, on which it is based, is the Franco regime during the Spanish Civil War through the lives of Pepita (María León) an Andalusian immigrant who moved to Madrid where he is imprisoned his sister Hortensia (Inma Cuesta) who is pregnant and will give birth in jail, Pepita falls for a guerrilla (Paulino-Marc Clotet-) and try by all means to take care of his sister's daughter sentenced to death.2
