The agricultural sector and the Ministry of Agriculture negotiate a rescue plan to support the continuity of the olive sector. These negotiations have been requested by agricultural organizations Asaja, COAG and UPA and justified by the difficult situation being experienced by the growers by falling prices.
The sector supports and three campaigns sunken prices well below production costs until recovery during this campaign. The rise in prices in recent months has coincided, however, with the worst harvest of the last decade with only a production of about 570,000 tons compared to an average of 1.4 million.
In this situation, the agricultural sector calls for olive exemption in 2013 for the payment of Social Security contributions. Facing problems in other sectors, the official response to such requests has always been limited, in the best case, to a postponement.
For this exercise calls for the establishment of a zero rate of tax effects in the statement of income for the olive. Similarly, in the fiscal sector demand exemption from property tax. For agricultural organizations is essential the availability of working capital to meet the new growing season and to better defend the marketing of production from last season.
