Djotodia Michel, the rebel leader of the coalition Seleka this weekend proclaimed the new president of Central African Republic, has already shown his first letters. At the moment, suspended the constitution, dissolved Parliament and announced a long transition period of three years. During this time rule by decree and then there will be free and transparent elections, as has said in a message to the media. Joining him will be, as prime minister, Nicolas Tiangaye, an opponent who already occupied this position after the creation of a national unity government last January.

The coup that deposed François Bozizé has, now a refugee in Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital, seems now irreversible. Inside, the concern is to stop the looting and robberies that have rocked Bangui, the Central African capital, for two days. Meanwhile, outside, the logical initial convictions were strong up to the limit of what is reasonable because everyone seems willing to accept, de facto, the fall of Bozizé. On Monday, the Security Council requested the United Nations immediate return to constitutional order, but did not raise even possible sanctions against rebels or any military intervention, as it has in other recent cases such as Mali and the DRC.
The "new president" of Central African Republic, as he described the French representative at the United Nations, was conciliatory everything he could in his speech media on Monday night, insisting on the idea that there will be no witch hunt that affects the leaders of the previous regime and that needs the cooperation "of all Central" in this new phase. However, the announcement that the three-year transition "respecting the Libreville peace agreements" during which no legislative rule in place, by decree, has not sat well even among some of its partners Seleka.
Among his first targets, "restore international peace and security, reorganize Defence and security forces, reorganize the territorial administration and continue the process of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration" of the rebels. To meet the first of his goals and stop the looting of the past few days, joint patrols Seleka formed by members of the Multinational Force and Central Africa (FOMAC) have started to police the streets of Bangui. Also Djotodia announced the approval of a curfew between 19.00 and 6.00 am.

Born in 1949 in the city of Vakaga, northeast of the country, Michel Djotodia tried twice entering parliament via the ballot box, but was unsuccessful.
After being appointed consul of the Central African Republic in Nyala (Sudan), where he came into contact with the Chadian rebels, Djotodia founded the Union of Democratic Forces for Unity (UFDR).
This armed group launched an attack on the city in 2006 and the Central Birao then passed a international arrest warrant against him, forcing him into exile in Benin. Despite this, he was arrested and remained in prison until 2008, when he was released from prison and, at the same time, disappeared from the public scene.
This past December, when the coalition Seleka again launch an offensive against President Bozizé, Djotodia reappeared at the head of his armed group. The Libreville peace accords, signed on 10 January, he was elevated to the position of deputy prime minister and defense minister of the government of national unity.
