The General Assembly decided today on La Caixa transforming the hitherto first Spanish box in a bank foundation. The
new entity would own the company that controls 60.5% of the financial
business , while a new board of trustees shall consist of 15 members,
among whom are Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim; former Minister Javier Solana ; Telefonica chairman Cesar Alierta and Abertis , Salvador Alemany . The foundation is chaired by Isidro Faine , who will also be on board of the entity.
The
Board of Directors of La Caixa and decided to give the green light to
the transformation of the box foundation April 10 , although the General
Assembly should give definite yes. This transformation , which the company plans to make over this year, is to overturn the current structure of the entity. The
unlisted company CaixaHolding Criteria , which is 100 % owned by La
Caixa , will have 60.5% (which will be diluted to 55.9 % in three years )
of participation of CaixaBank . Criteria
