The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will make a return visit to Spain. Between 15 and 26 October, as noted by the UN spokesman Gerry Rice, a mission will be in Madrid, within the supervisory framework established to track banking reform and assistance to organizations in need. As explained Rice, is a technical level view, after which a report will be prepared which will be given to both the European Commission and the Spanish Government. The spokesman also insisted that Spain has not requested financial assistance.
As protests against austerity housing in recent weeks by various parts of southern Europe, the IMF has indicated that they are concerned "the difficult challenge facing these countries." Rice has stated that "it is a crisis of great magnitude, involving economic measures are difficult and painful." The important thing, he said is that economic reforms are needed to restore growth and jobs. "But it must be done in a fair and balanced, taking into account the social dimension and in particular, protecting the most vulnerable involved in the process," said.
With regard to Greece, a country with which they must reach an agreement before the next European Council on 18 and 19 October, on the conditions of the bailout, the IMF has only indicated that "continue the negotiations." "We seek sustainable and can be met. Come as fast as we. The situation is complex," has settled Rice.
