The open house prices fell 9.5% in the third quarter compared to the same period of 2011, reaching 1565.6 euros per square meter, which is back to mid-2004 levels, according to data released today by the Ministry of Development.
The pace of decline in the value of private housing has accelerated since the first quarter prices fell 7.2% in the second, 8.3%. In relation to the previous quarter the decline was 2.5%.
Prices are kept away from the peak four years ago, when exceeded 2,000 euros per square meter. The average price per square meter, according to the series, has dropped by 25.5% from the value recorded in the first quarter of 2008.
The private housing fell by 8.2%
The price of private housing new (two years old) closed the third quarter at 1603.7 euros, 8.2% less than a year earlier, while the used (more than two years old) worth 1554, 2 euros per square meter, 9.6% less.
The average price of housing has registered a fall of 1.4% to 1141.7 euros per square meter.
The biggest drops in the price of private housing are located in Extremadura (12.2%), Canary Islands (11.7%), Aragón (11.4%), Madrid (11.3%), Valencia (11, 3%) and Catalonia (11.1%). At the other end of the ranking are La Rioja (5.9%), Asturias (5.2%), Basque Country (3.5%) and Navarra (2.8%).
