Spanish banks boosted their investment in debt securities of eurozone countries last September, after having been reducing positions since last February, according to data released yesterday by the European Central Bank (ECB). Specifically, the total investment increased by about 11,600 million euros, from 243,900 to 255,500 million.
Liquidity injections body chaired by Mario Draghi between late 2011 and early 2012 had strengthened the bond purchases parts of entities, but this effect was diluted and the total investment was six months down.
The plan of the ECB to buy bonds to countries requiring assistance plan, subject to conditions, in order to reduce their financing difficulties (to boost demand and contain interest claimed), like Spain, have encouraged the market . "Draghi's words announcing the willingness to buy bonds have moved much the market, looks at how the profitability has dropped the titles to three years," said Javier Ferrer, Savings Corporation.
Also the placement of bonds between financial institutions launched by the Treasury in September to fund the European bailout fund will take effect in the market.
