When there is little more than a month to go until the deadline for the Special Tax Declaration (DTE), formal name for the tax amnesty, tax advisers remain many questions about the process. "If successful it will be more by the fear of the consequences of the statute of frauds (now approved in the Senate) than conviction," he said this morning the president of the Spanish Association of Tax Advisors (AEDAF), Antonio Duran-Sindreu, during the presentation of the conference on tax amnesty held this morning to try to shed light on some of the most controversial aspects of the tax amnesty.
Among them, the accreditation of financial investments deposited in countries with which there is no information exchange agreement. More than 400 tax advisers have come with serious doubts, the event which was attended by the deputy director general of income tax, Manuel de Miguel Monterrubio, and Caridad Gomez Mourelo, Inspector Crimes Unit against the Treasury, who tried to solve raised doubts.
Tax advisers claimed the Executive to extend the deadline to qualify for the tax break, which now expires on November 30. The consultants believe that the existence of uncertainties and the limited time available since the second report of the Directorate General of Taxes in clarifying some aspects of extraordinary regularization supports them to claim an extension until December 31. "It is not renewable. No forecast for extension or expansion of the Special Tax Statement, "said Monterrubio to try to settle the argument. However, the organization of tax advisors negotiated with Tributes to try to extend the deadline.
Monterrubio said during his speech that the government has attempted to play with the stick and carrot putting up tax amnesty while approving a law that toughens law to combat tax fraud. "These risks contingency regularize tax years open to inspection," he said.
