Credit to households suffered a decline in 2013 record for the largest institutions reluctant to lend. With European bailout included and despite the improvement of wholesale markets , financing to households fell by 5.5% in December compared to the same month of 2012 , representing an unprecedented drop in the time series yesterday updated the Bank of Spain, which starts in 1995. After this cut , the outstanding money owed by families fell below 787,400 million , its lowest level since January 2007 .
The red end of year rally left the warm November like a mirage and questions the assertion that defends both the executive and the Bank of Spain itself that credit is recovering. At least , they argue, the loan is returned to productive sectors and activities.
Loans to households rose in November for the first time in four months, but then was a timely change and not a shift in the trend, which remains closed the tap of credit to individuals and businesses. In fact , and even with small oscillations , the household debt remains at its lowest levels since before the start of the crisis in 2007 .
In December fell both housing loans as for consumption . In the first case , the decrease is 4.7 % compared to the levels of a year ago. The latter fell by 8.3%.
Also the volume of debt of non -financial corporations , companies , fell in December , in line with the trend that has continued in recent years , the corporate debt at the end of the month was 1.072 billion euros , 6% less than a year earlier . If one analyzes the evolution of the financing granted by the Spanish authorities, the contraction is more intense, with a fall of 14.7 % to 648,500 million.
