Producer prices fell 1.8% in January compared with the same month in 2013, the steepest decline since November 2009 due to cheaper production, transport and distribution of electricity and, to a lesser extent, refining oil.
The Industrial Price Index (PPI) published today by the National Statistics Institute (INE) specifies that industrial prices worsened more than two points from the annual rate in December (when they increased 0.6%).
In addition to cheaper electricity and petroleum refining-while a year before prices soared, it also influenced the January drop falling prices of manufacturing of oils and fats and animals.
