This system generated a hole 3,800 million and resulted in the figure, still current and controversial tariff deficit . The rates in question were abolished in 2009 and then Spain launched a mechanism to finance the 2005 deficit , which requires large electricity users cover after the created gap . "Accordingly , there was a de facto increase in electricity tariffs retrospectively " according to a spokesman, who said the contracts signed in 2004 and 2005 on the open market " closed at prices similar to those of regulated tariffs for customers industrial " . " No advantages were given ," added the same source to explain the decision to close the case.
