Spanish banks further increased sovereign debt portfolio in January after adjusting their balance sheets in December. According to data released Thursday by the ECB , banks increased by 20,300 million investment in bonds and bills of different countries after reducing it by 22,400 million in the last month of 2013 .
The closing balance of last year , incidentally, will be the one used in the stress tests to sector.
