Spain in 2013 received funding from the European Investment Bank ( EIB ) worth 10,656 million euros , 14.9 % of the total, which made him the first recipient of loans from the bank country , as reported Wednesday institution based in Luxembourg .

In addition to SMEs , the EIB group focused over the past year in research and development funding of 17,200 million euros to improve the competitiveness of the European economy .
As the bank of the EU, the EIB signed loans plus 19,000 million euros worldwide for climate actions and EUR 15,900 million for strategic infrastructure.
Also launched its new instrument to promote trade and guarantees for SMEs and project bonds .
