In the music world there are few indisputable figures, few geniuses can survive for decades without getting a bad review. The case of Paco de Lucia is probably unique. When at age 12 began to climb to the stage in his native Algeciras, Francisco Sánchez Gómez was nothing more than an extremely studious child with one goal in life: to be a great guitarist. Over the years, Francis, son of Antonio and Lucia, has gone much further and has gone on to become a musical reference worldwide .
In the 60s , his work with his brothers Pepe de Lucia and Ramon de Algeciras and, above all , the explosion that led to the couple formed by Camarón de la Isla , were turned upside down to see flamenco mode , the mode of interpreting and listen mode . In classic clubs new rhythms , new harmonies and new instruments slipped up . Camarón and Paco redefined the genre and left the tablao to bring their music to large venues .

In 1973 , lists more commercial successes recognized the work of Paco de Lucía through a rumba that has become his most famous composition in Spain : Entre dos aguas . But far from being content with immediate success , Paco decided to open doors , keep studying and researching in the world of guitar eight hours a day . After recording at the Theatre Royal (1975) and pay homage to classics such as Manuel de Falla (1978 ) , Paco came in contact with Brazilian music, and ended up joining flamenco with jazz in a masterly way with stars like John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola , who signed unforgettable albums like Friday Night In San Francisco (1981) or Passion Grace and Fire (1983).
After decades of tireless work , especially outside Spain , Paco de Lucia has not ceased to revolutionize the music scene mixing flamenco with jazz, blues, country , Indian music , salsa , bossa nova or Arabic music . His compositions are the mirror in which they have looked and the stars of the guitar look around the world, from flamingos as Tomatito or Vicente Amigo to heroes of heavy metal such as Steve Vai , who fell off your feet in 1991 during the Guitar Legends festival held in Seville .
Now, after years of living in Mexico and endless tours around the world, Paco has returned to Spain , has settled in Toledo and returned to the stage with a disco, the nth , under his arm : good tidbits . The Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts does nothing but reaffirm guitarist and composer of Algeciras as one of the musical references of the twentieth century and , who knows, if the XXI.
