The Spaniards spent 1,150 million euros in renewing their mobile phones in 2013 , double what had been spent in 2012, according to Kantar Worldpanel . The higher cost of the terminals and to aid the operators are the cause of the increase .
According to the director of Kantar Hugo Liria, " drastically reducing subsidies mobile forces the consumer to bear part of the cost of the phone that previously handled by the operator. In addition, virtually all phones that are purchased today in Spain are smartphones , with an average well above the terminals that were sold a few years ago " price.
In fact , 59 % of phones are already " smart" , a percentage that has tripled in three years ( only 20 % of phones were smartphones in 2010).
Four out of ten phones sold are Samsung, Sony front al15 % of 12% of LG , Nokia 5% and 4% of Apple. Eight of the ten best selling models correspond to Samsung in 2013 mainly Galaxy Mini 2 , Galaxy SIII Mini and LG L5 .
Consequently, the Android operating system has a market share of 86.2 % in the last quarter of 2013 ; iOs is second with 6.7% , even though they have very close to Windows , with 5.6% .
