Foreign tourism continues to pull the truck sector. During the first month of this year , 12.7 million overnight stays in hotels recorded a 7.6 % increase over the same month in 2013 . Overnight stays resident travelers in Spain increased by 0.7 % and non-residents 11.8%.
According to data released Monday by the National Statistics Institute ( INE ), the main destination for foreign travelers was the Canary Islands, with 60.7 % of the total. In this community of foreign overnight stays increased by 14.0 % over the same month of 2013 .
The second choice for foreign travelers site was occupied Catalonia, with 11.5 % of all overnight stays, and Andalusia ( with 9.8 %). In these communities overnight stays increased by 11.9 % and 13.3 % , respectively.

Travellers from Germany accounted for 24.8 % of overnight stays , the UK 20.4% . The German market increased by 12.6% and the UK 5.9%. Overnight stays by travelers from Sweden, France and Italy also showed increases .
