About 200 teachers from the three Basque universities have signed a manifesto in defense of a more social and citizens overturned in economy, which joined about three hundred people, half of them teachers of the same economic field other universities in Spain .
The text , entitled For an economy at the service of people , is brought before the celebration on March 3 in Bilbao of Spain Forum Global Economic Summit , sponsored by the central government, which will bring together international political and economic leaders to discuss growth and competitiveness.
The manifesto, powered by four teachers of the UPV ( Koldo Unceta Jesus Garmendia , Pilar Elgoibar and Iñaki Heras ) , believes that in the current circumstances , diagnostic and economic proposals should be based on a rigorous debate about the ultimate meaning of terms as growth, competitiveness , efficiency, equity , justice or democracy .
The text recalls some of the most significant figures of the current economic and social situation in terms of unemployment, poverty , social exclusion, inequality or tax fraud.
Also raises issues of inequality, its impact on the economic process , the need to consider the links between competitiveness and efficiency , democracy and transparency, how to address the balance of public accounts , the need to consider social problems as the center of the crisis, the existence of various alternative economic policy , and the importance of a social democratic and territorially cohesive Europe.
