The banking and insurance group ING has paid the Dutch state Monday 1,125 million euros, of which 750 million related to the repayment of state aid received and 375 million for interest payments and premiums, as reported by the company.
ING has already returned to the state a total of 10,200 million euros, of which 7,800 million for the repayment of principal and 2.400 million interest payment.
The European Commission agreed last week to extend the deadline for the Dutch bank return state aid received during the crisis, and to sell its insurance business.
The group has until 2015 to repay the Dutch State of EUR 3,000 million of outstanding aid, plus a premium of 50%, while the deadline to completely divest its insurance business in Europe is extended through 2018, instead of 2013 as originally planned.
