The purchasing power of the Greek workers has halved
Unions estimate that the wage of a Greek equivalent to 74% of the European average
Austerity measures imposed by successive Greek governments in recent years have caused severe loss of purchasing power of workers Hellenes, according to a study published today by the Institute of Labour of Greece. The organization linked to the unions figure this halving.
The study suggests that the average real wage in Greece has gone from being equivalent to 84% of the average wage in the EU at 74%.
