The international tourists spending in Spain was made of 2,967 million euros in November, down 1.1% from a year ago, despite a 2.9% increase in the number of visits, according to data released this Thursday by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. In the first eleven months of the year, however, total spending rises by 6% compared to the same period in 2011, to 52.833 million euros, a rise of average daily expenditure of 6.6% (up to 109 euros ) and average expenditure per tourist (up 3%, to 962 euros).
In November, international tourists spent 2.967 million euros, 1.1% less than a year ago. On average, 1.3% less disbursed, although the average daily expenditure grew by 3.7%.
This decrease was mainly due to the fall in spending by the countries of Latin America and Germany, while Britain, France and the Nordic countries disbursed a sum greater. Canary was the destination benefited by this increase, mainly due to the contribution of British tourists.
In the first eleven months of the year, UK (10.717 million euros), Germany (8,640 million), France (4,830 million) and Nordic (4.652 million) were confirmed as the markets that contributed to the growth of spending in Spain.
International travelers joined a larger volume of spending in Catalonia (over 12,000 million euros, which translates into an annual increase of 13.1%), Ireland (over 10,000 million euros of spending 6% more than last year) and the Canaries (with 9.657 million euros of spending the first, 4.5% more).
Spending on hotels
Tourists who stayed in hotels increased their spending by 1%, while those who opted for other accommodations spent 5.5% less.
International travelers who traveled to Spain for leisure spent 4.7% more, an opposite trend than in other areas, such as business, where spending fell 5.9%.
