The Government has issued a document that claims to "first results" of the reforms adopted this year, coinciding with the anniversary of the inauguration of the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, who met today.
Among these positive data, the text notes that "first" for 14 years the Spanish economy does not require external financing, so the government deficit stood at the end of the third quarter at 5.27%. It also highlights that the primary structural deficit has been reduced by 3.5 points, the surplus in the trade balance without energy goods, "which had not happened in the last 20 years," cleaning up the balance sheets of Spanish banks with provisions capital of 72,000 million worth of GDP, or the fact that Spain in 2012 "has become the second country in the EU with better relationship between productivity and costs."
These are some of the data contained herein, twelve-page summary was released to coincide with the anniversary of the first year in office. Sources of Moncloa EP have assured they are working on a larger text with all government measures that will be announced in the coming days.
The Prime Minister himself has stressed these days that there are already positive data in the Spanish economy. Last night I spoke at an event of the PP in Madrid that his reform project is already "a turning point in the direction of the economy" and noted that there are indicators that point to a "recovery horizon"
"Active role" in Europe
The document points out, first, that the government has acted on "the most urgent problems of the Spanish economy" by taking measures such as Budget Stability Law to control the deficit and reforming the financial system or the labor market.
He insists, moreover, that have remained "the pillars of social protection system" on pensions, health and education. "Despite the serious financial situation pensions have increased by 1 percent in 2012 and 2013. Lowest benefits in 2013 will rise by 2 percent," he stresses.
The document also highlights the "active role" that has played in the construction of the "new Europe" and the intense international agenda of the Prime Minister. "President Rajoy is having a more active international agenda in his first year in office the entire Spanish democracy. Has met with 26 heads of State and Government 18, in addition to the heads of major international organizations and financial institutions "he says.
