Purchases from abroad grew 40%, but still are lower than those made from Spain at sites outside

E-commerce in Spain moved 6.008 million euros between January and June 2013 , 18% more than in the first half of 2012, according to the National Commission on Financial Markets and Competition ( CNMC ) .
Only in the second quarter , sales transactions through Internet totaled 3185.3 million, which means that for the first time the barrier of 3,000 million was exceeded by one quarter and the business grew 20.6% from the second quarter of 2012.
Of total turnover between April and June , 16.4 % were travel agents and tour operators and 12.4 % for air transport. Behind direct marketing companies ( 5.5%), passenger land transport (4.9%) , advertising (3.1%) , clothing (2.8%) , gaming ( 2 placed , 8%) , entertainment (2.6%) , public administration, tax and social security (2.6% ) and food ( 2.4%).
Purchases abroad in Spanish webs totaled 551 million , representing an increase of 39.7 % compared to a year earlier . Operations from abroad and represent 17.3% of the total.
The tourism sector ( travel agencies, tour operators , air transport, hotels, etc. . ) Accounted for over 60 % of revenue from transactions abroad.
The "online" trade within Spain and from Spain with operations abroad grew by 19.5 % ( 1,325 million ) and 15% , respectively. Despite the progress of e-commerce in Spanish online stores , the trade balance ( what foreigners bought in Spanish shops versus what the Spaniards bought out), remained negative , with a deficit in the third quarter of 759 million.
By region, the European Union continued to be the favorite destination to buy online, with 1.170 million ( 89% of the total) , and the United States remained in second option , with 4.7 %.
