Wage moderation , whether covert or appearing in statistics, is a process that has finished lowering one's wages in Spain , especially in the wake of cutbacks among public employees . To this has helped the labor reform , which provides companies sag of the agreement and choose to reduce wages in order to avoid dismissal due a decrease in activity. The setting also has been alleviated only from the point of view of the pocket by falling wage inflation, which is around 0 %. This has prevented further loss of purchasing power of workers.
The Government , as has become a highlight Tuesday 's Economy Minister Luis de Guindos , defends wage moderation as a way to gain competitiveness , overcoming one of the major imbalances with which Spain entered the crisis and thus regain employment . According Guindos , this phenomenon not only " must go on" , but also is a "fundamental" element for changing perception of the Spanish economy.
