The Ministry of Industry has reversed in part, by a ministerial order published today by the Official State Bulletin (BOE), the order by which he remembered closing the nuclear plant of Santa Maria de Garona (Burgos) on 6 July 2013.
The new order states that prior to September 6 the holder of the plant, Endesa and Iberdrola to 50% - may ask the Ministry of Industry for a renewal of the operating license for a period not exceeding six years.

Last February, the Minister of Industry, José Manuel Soria, confirmed the Government's intention that the nuclear worked until 2019. He did one day after the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) answered that the Executive had no objection to the amendment of the ministerial order closing the previous Socialist government. According to Soria, Spain "can not afford to forgo any energy source."
The Minister of Industry said that the extension would be for five years, although his department handles the lengthening of life for six, ranging from 2013 to 2019.
In 2009, the CSN has already accepted that Garoña functioned until 2019 if it would make dollar investments in security. The Socialist government decided instead to give the nuclear only four more years of life and set their closing date in 2013.
