Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday ordered the government to negotiate with Cyprus conditions of debt restructuring of the Mediterranean island for a loan of 2,500 million euros.

"President Putin believes may support the efforts of the President of Cyprus and the European Commission aimed at overcoming the crisis in the economy and in the financial-banking system this island," said Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, quoted by local agencies.
