A total of 21.1 million passengers passed through airports in the Aena network airports in the first two months of the year, which is 9.7% less than the same period last year, said Friday the airport manager. The data, which indicates that traffic keeps falling with which started the year, was also conditioned by the first week of the strike in Iberia. The strikes, recorded between 18 and 22 last month, forced to cancel 1222 flights.
Thus, during the first two months of the year there were a total of 227,756 transactions, representing a drop of 16.2% from the balance in January and February 2012.
Only six of the 49 Spanish airports manage to improve their figures. Madrid, the most affected by the strike by Iberia, lost 14.6% of customers until February, with 15.2% fewer operations.
With respect only to February, Spanish airports recorded a total of 10.4 million passengers, 10.2% fewer passengers, and with a decrease in the number of operations of 17.3% up to 110,298.
