The National Police have arrested 145 people in Catalonia and has charged 275 defendants with defrauding other 7.8 million euros creating shell companies to make false labor contracts after fraudulently collecting unemployment benefits. In an investigation that lasted several months, agents have uncovered a plot that had created construction-related companies, cleaning and gardening services for the sole purpose of processing high false workers so they could receive unemployment benefits or subsidies .
As reported today National Police, among those arrested were both managers fictitious business enterprises as some of the people who were fake employees had to be hired and paid well to be eligible after fraudulently collecting unemployment benefits.
The investigations began a while ago, when the Department of Economic Crime Prevention General Treasury of the Social Security and the Inspectorate of Labour and Social Security of Catalonia detected 19 companies listed in the General Social Security devoid of activity real and effective labor.
