The increased use of new drugs such as traditional adulterants, cocaine and speed as more adulterated substances and ecstasy as the drug of choice. Those are the main findings of the annual report analyzing statewide substance made by the group Energy Control and Welfare and Development Association (ABD).
The Analysis Service study of Energy Substances Control aims to bring the drug problem to the consumer population, improve understanding of market dynamics illegal substances and reduce the problems associated with its use. Nuria Calzada, Control Energy state coordinator, said that this report is very necessary because positive results are achieved when consumers know the composition effects of consuming: "Knowing what they can cause substances used appears critical capacity does reduce and prevent drug ".
In preparing the report, Energy Control studied during 2012 a total of 3,159 samples of psychoactive substances, half of them in Catalonia and the rest in Andalusia, Madrid and Mallorca. The analysis was done through a mechanical double, attending nightlife frequented by young people and caring for people who have voluntarily gone to Energy Control.
The report's findings vary little from those of previous years. The types of drugs most used in 2012 have returned to cannabis, ecstasy, cocaine and speed. In all previous ecstasy is what has submitted the lowest levels of adulteration. Conversely, cocaine has been found that a rate of greater adulteration being caffeine and local anesthetics more dopants are used. In 74% of the speed samples found with amphetamine and caffeine combinations. And most cannabis samples analyzed were of marijuana, but the adulteration has been very low.
With the data that has led to this analysis, ABD and Energy Control concluded that the main problem is the emergence of new drugs. Through the study found a total of 68 new substances for which there is still no clinical research data allowing advisors to consumers. "These are substances that have just arrived to the illegal market, an unpredictable market and increasing the risk of tampering, so that is our main alert now", said Nuria, who added consumer misinformation as the other risk important.
