Rates Madrid Metro and buses will rise by an average of 3% from February, as reported this morning by the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Housing, Pablo Cavero. The new rates are in accordance with IPC which closed in 2012. The generic increased by 2.9% and a specific transport 3.1%. Wages rise much less in this period. The wage increase was 1.26% last year, according to estimates from the National Statistics Institute in Madrid on 598,000 workers agreement (less than a third of the total). The percentage would be even lower if it included officials, who have been down the salary after removal of the December bonus.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has not provided specific suppression of each title, hoping that tomorrow Tuesday are approved by the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid. In 2012, there were two increases. In May, there was the largest percentage increase in the past decade, with an average increase of 11%, which touched 30% for 10-trip ticket. The payment of 10 now costs 12.20 euros after further average increase of 3% which was adopted last September to align prices with the VAT hike approved by the central government.

"If you take away trains and buses and raise the price, what they will get is that there are fewer travelers," adds Antonio Oviedo, UGT spokesman in the Consortium. Metro cut by 14% the number of trains in 2012 and halved the service since 2300, and announced its intention to close the service from midnight.
"The metro continues to rise but families have less income and the tendency is for wages or lower or freeze" protest Manuel Fernández Albano, representative of CC OO at the Regional Transport Consortium. Commissions have studied the increase in transport prices since the start of the crisis, in January 2008. The payment of 10 trips, using almost 20% of passengers has increased by 90.62%. Among the month, employing 67% of users, the normal A-equivalent to the central zone of Madrid, has risen by 29.5% and young compost, a 27.38% in that period.
