A senior UN official humanitarian warned Thursday risk of genocide in the Central African Republic (CAR) if not given a massive international response to the crisis between the Christian and Muslim communities in the country. "It has all the elements we have seen elsewhere , in places like Rwanda and Bosnia. Items are there, the seeds are there, so that there is a genocide. No doubt ," stressed the head of operations for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA ), John Ging, a press conference in Geneva. The agency on Thursday asked the mobilization of the international community , humanitarian and military, to stabilize the RCA and stressed the need to initiate a process of reconciliation between the Christian and Muslim communities following the latest clashes .

The clashes , attacks on mosques and looting of shops owned by Muslims have persisted in Bangui since the resignation of the Acting President Michel Djotodia , which came to power in March following the coup of Seleka rebel coalition , consisting mostly of Muslims.
