Inflation rose a tenth in December from the previous month and ended 2013 at 0.3% , the lowest annual rate since 1961 , when it began to make time series, according to data released Wednesday by the National Statistics Institute (INE ) .
The December inflation figure is a tenth higher than that advanced the INE two weeks ago and is due to the rising prices of fuels and lubricants for transport and diesel fuel for home heating . The underlying inflation rate , which excludes the evolution of energy prices and food dropped by two - tenths in December and stood at 0.2 %, below the overall CPI .
Core inflation , which excludes food and energy fell two - tenths to 0.2 %
The most influential groups in this price developments were transport , ranging from 1 % (seven more than the previous month tenths ) and housing, whose variation added a tenth to 0.0% . It should be noted moderation leisure and cultural groups , whose rate fell five tenths , to -1.2 % , and clothing and footwear, which shows a variation of 0.0% , less than three tenths .
This subdued inflation occurs after two tenths in November rise by cheap fuels and lubricants, and after leaving the negative level marking in October , when there was the first annual decline in four years , dropping the 0 , 1%. As experts had anticipated , the negative rate experienced by the CPI in October was not the start of a prolonged period of falling prices , leading to a deflation putting even more out of the crisis. But it assumes that increases in inflation will be very limited in the coming months , now that the impact on IPC of the tax increases started in 2012 no longer mask the impact of weak demand.
Func CPI will be below 1% throughout the year

Behind them stood , with 0.4% , Murcia . With a rate equal to the national average is Andalusia ( 0.3%), and 0.2% are Aragón , Asturias, Castilla -La Mancha , Catalonia, Valencia and Madrid. Prices in La Rioja rose 0.1 % , and remained stable in Extremadura and Navarra. Meanwhile, the CPI recorded negative rates in Ceuta ( -0.1 % ), Canarias ( -0.4%) and Melilla ( -0.4 %).
