Employers of social services have given the prime minister a study that said the economic advantages of occupying the 50,000 that have empty beds in nursing homes. Immediately, they say, could draw 38,500 people in unemployment that, once incorporated into the working world, would contribute with their taxes and the companies themselves 792 million euros. Public money would finance part of the occupation of these places at a cost of 700 million euros, which would generate a return of 92 million last year, according to the calculations of this study, for those who have been taken into account savings benefits unemployment and the increase in new Social Security contributions and tax revenues from VAT, personal income tax. Similar data were forwarded to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, but employers complain that found no echo in that department claiming.
This study, commissioned by the Federation of Employers of the Unit (EDF) to the newly created Foundation and Health Economics, calculates a price per square residence of 1,664 euros and makes clear that demand is just the leftovers, because currently -these are official figures, there is a waiting list of 239,000 dependents entitled to assistance, "40% of which would require a square geriatric".
The report submitted in Moncloa also presents a special plan for the creation of new positions that could cover socio remaining claim and come. "The construction of this infrastructure, another 50,000 seats and the creation of 45,500 jobs for home help, generate huge stimulus to the economy and employment," it says. Calculate reach the construction sector would employ 21,875 people and 60,964 others to meet this new service offering.
There are 50,000 empty beds and 239,000 dependent on the waiting list
For this plan seek public cooperation, because they understand that the Spanish health network is serving people chronically ill or convalescent or rehabilitation periods that could be accommodated in other health centers at a cost to the public purse "almost three times lower." Transfer half of these users to the new welfare centers "should not generate a significant net effect on employment, since after the reorganization of healthcare staff and temporary staff would not reabsorbed in new functional recovery units", say.
The report estimates that 14,500 beds dealing with these cases in 119 hospitals, the public health system itself defined as places of geriatrics and / or long stay, at a cost of 900 million euros a year. The new health centers could serve half, 7250, for about 210 million claim. In the bid submitted to the Government recalls that the user to enter the door of social services would provide a co-payment of 30% of the total cost.
The three measures proposed by Government, occupation of the 50,000 empty residential spaces, creating new infrastructures for similar purposes and the transfer of purely chronic health sector to socio save "1,900 million in four years," the report estimated.
Employers say they care chronically ill is twice cheaper in their centers
This is not the first study to put in numbers, albeit with different management models, the hotbed of jobs in Spain would keep flowing rhythm and professional assistance to dependents, among others. And not all start from the business sector. This is recognized by professionals also public social services have always added that these jobs also are not delocalised, let alone gender impact that would have the momentum in this sector, since there are thousands of women who have left their responsible jobs to care for their elderly or disabled relatives, and because it is also a sector that provides employment to countless women. In fact, that was one of the purposes recognized in Law Unit.
