Hundreds of high school students (about 3,000 according to the local police and 40,000 according to union organizers) have spoken this afternoon through the streets of central Barcelona to protest cuts in education undertaken by the Government and the Central Government. The march started at 12 noon in the Plaza Universitat and has passed along Via Laietana up finish in the Plaça de Sant Jaume, outside the headquarters of the Catalan government, two hours later.
Under slogans against privatization and calling for the resignation of the Minister of Education, José Ignacio Wert, its intentions "españolizar" Catalan students, the event has passed without incident, but flanked at all times by about a dozen vans the riot of the Mossos d'Esquadra. Cries of protest have also led banks to which the protesters accused of "guilty" of the economic crisis, which has degenerated into cuts in social pillars as basic as education.

A group of high school students of Terrassa Montserrat Roig has chosen an encouraging banner "Hope is the last thing to cut '. Because the scissors are noticing on all sides. Students complain of overcrowded classes, with 41 peers in the classroom. "No room for us and we have to take chairs from other classes and share tables," they complain. They also claim to have been two weeks without classes by the absence of their teacher. "Comes a teacher on duty, but no advance agenda, we are dedicated to do homework or study."
But the demonstration was not only high school students. Five third-year university degree in Primary Education Autonoma de Barcelona have decided to join the call to protest rising tuition fees (if applicable, has spent 1,000 to 1,600 euros), but also to show concern their future as teachers. "After the race, maybe we have no work." And is that the current course in Catalonia has started with about 3,700 fewer teachers in the entire education system.
In Tarragona, five hundred students has started from the Plaza Imperial Tarraco and finished at the same point after crossing the Rambla Nova. The protests have come to the streets Wednesday to other Catalan towns and dozens of cities around the state.
The demonstrations are part of the second day of 72-hour strike called by high school in the Student Union and Student Youth Association of Catalonia (SWAT). During the first day yesterday, the strike had an uneven track institutes, ranging from 20% follow up encryption by the Ministry of Education to 70% targeted by the organizers. Tomorrow's strike will end with a day that will be added to the Spanish Confederation of Associations of Parents of Students.
