The average agreed wage increase in contract stood at 1.30% through September, more than two points below the inflation rate of the same month (3.4%), according to the Ministry of Employment and Social Security.
Since February 2011, when the average wage increase reached 3.11%, the wage agreements have continued to moderate. This contention is observed in the evolution of all types of agreements. In the upper level to the company, the average increase was 1.27% through August, compared to 1.44% in August and 2.69% a year earlier.
The wage increase registered enterprise agreements to September stood at 1.59%, up from 1.66% the previous month and 1.77% in September 2011.
The average wage increase of enterprise agreements follows the upward trend of recent months and is above the sectoral conventions.
This past May, the wage agreements were below the CPI (1.72% vs 1.9%), but this difference has widened considerably in September, due to the thrust that experienced by rising prices VAT.
Some 72.6% of agreements are business
Until September had registered with the Ministry of Employment agreements a total of 1,445, of which 396 were sector (27.4% of total), with effects on 4.08 million workers, and 1,049 were enterprise agreements (72 , 6%), covering about 354,600 workers.
The average agreed day of all collective agreements was 1753.1 hours annually. For enterprise agreements, the day was 1717.6 hours per year and in the higher-level agreements, to 1756.2 hours annually.
