The Spanish publishing sector exports a 5.38 percent more than in 2010

This report, called "the book sector in Spain 2011-2012", contains the most significant in the field of publishing and marketing of books in Spain and abroad and has been published by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, coinciding with the celebration of International Book LIBER 2012.
The European Union remains the main destination for exports, although most are bundles, not books.
America is the main target geographical area of Spanish texts, with Mexico, Argentina and Chile to the head area in which exports were valued at 167.97 million euros in 2011.
The sector's turnover in the domestic market in the last year experienced a decline of 4.1%, with a total of 2,772.3 million euros. 92.5% of the turnover is concentrated in companies associated with the guilds of Madrid and Catalonia.
While book production continues to grow, turnover in the last financial year suffer a further decline of 4.1%, with a total of 2,772.3 million euros.
These results have been partly softened by the positive performance of the sector in the overseas market, the report said.
With a total of 116,851 books, production increased by 2.1%, affecting all segments except the textbook that is reduced by 6.9%.
Despite this great activity in recent years is registering a steady decline of the average print run (1,345 copies per title in 2011, the lowest in the last ten years) and the print edition because of the growing commitment digital editing (as printed books fell by 4.2%, the digital edition increases by 43%).
