The limit for 2020 is set at 147 grams per kilometer for the average of the entire fleet

The European Parliament today gave its approval to limit the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2 ) of new commercial vehicles sold in the European Union , which will be 147 grams per kilometer by 2020. The text was adopted with 552 votes in favor , 110 against and 12 abstentions. The measure affects vans up to 3.5 tonnes load ( 2.6 tons without).
"We have achieved a good result after difficult negotiations. I'm glad we have not yielded to any pressure to change targets. As the lifetime of light commercial vehicles is longer than that of passenger cars , it is appropriate that we stick to the goal we set ourselves , "he said yesterday during the parliamentary discussion the rapporteur of the report , the German Holger Krahmer .
The target of 147 g / km by 2020 shall apply to the average emissions of the entire fleet of models of community van manufacturers producing more than 1,000 vehicles per year. That means producers have to make models of commercial vehicles with low emissions that can compensate for the most polluting . Failure to respect the limit of 147 grams can face sanctions.
The text , which has already been agreed with the Twenty-eight ministers , also calls for the introduction of procedures more reliable when measuring emissions test .
Vehicle manufacturers continue to count by now with a system , called super- , which is that manufacturers can count more value than a regular vehicle to emit less than 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The system, as MEPs voted , not be renewed in 2018.
