The rating agency Moody's risk lowered by one notch the solvency of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), from Aaa, considered the honors, to Aa1, outstanding high but with a negative outlook. The decision follows the recent deterioration in the sovereign rating of France, the agency explained.
Moody's added that this decision is also due to the strong linkage between the ESM and the EFSF (European Financial Stability Fund) and its main financial backers, including France.
The agency withdrew to triple A of France on November 19, assigning it an Aa1. "The main reason is the risk that economic growth suffers (...) due to persistent structural challenges facing the country," the agency said in a statement.
The European Stability Mechanism is precisely the mechanism to inject in the Spanish banking system money for financero (the nearly 37,000 million for entities that receive als sanitized).
