A young Moroccan aged 27 died early yesterday when he was caught in a container of used clothing in Arbúcies, in the region of La Selva. A local resident found the body when he came home at night. He observed two legs sticking out of the container around 4.30 and alerted police. "We assume he was trying to pick up some clothes when he was caught accidentally," said Mayor Arbúcies, Pere Garriga, who described the act as "dramatic".
Firefighters had to use a radial saw to free the body of the container, which has a security system to prevent the clothes can be collected once it has been deposited.
