Communities halved the deficit in the third quarter

The communities were able to reduce its public deficit to 1.14% of GDP at the end of the third quarter in terms of national accounts, equivalent to 11,978,000 spent more than they have admitted. The balance of the first three quarters indicated that they have reduced to almost half its budget gap over the same period last year, when a negative acumulabann equivalent to 2.20%. The Finance Minister Cristobal Montoro, praised the effort made by the regions to be fiscal consolidation returning to their accounts after being responsible for much of the deviation recorded in 2011 on the objectives committed to Brussels.

For now, until September, five communities were already above the maximum target of 1.5%: Murcia, with a gap of 2.23%, Andalucía (1.63%), Valencia (1.60%) and Catalonia (1.56%). As to whether all the administrations also comply, the minister has been rather less optimistic.
