Gone in the Night is a 1996 American television movie based around the Jaclyn Dowaliby murder case, with Shannen Doherty and Kevin Dillon as Cynthia and David Dowaliby.

On September 14, 1988, 7 year-old Jaclyn Dowaliby was kidnapped from her home in the middle of the night. Two years later in 1990, Cynthia and her stepfather David Dowaliby went on trial for the murder of their daughter. However, Cynthia was acquitted by the judge on grounds of insufficient evidence, but David was tried and convicted of his daughter's death. His conviction came partly because the jury was shown photographs of a closet door, with fist holes in it. It was later proven that this damage happened before David even moved into the house.
In 1991 David's conviction was overturned when the Illinois Appellate Court reversed conviction outright, holding that the evidence against him had been no more probative than that against his wife. The murder of Jaclyn remains unsolved.

El 14 de septiembre de 1988, de 7 años Jaclyn Dowaliby fue secuestrada de su casa en medio de la noche. Dos años más tarde, en 1990, Cynthia, y su padrastro David Dowaliby fue a juicio por el asesinato de su hija. Sin embargo, Cynthia fue absuelto por el juez por falta de pruebas, pero David fue juzgado y condenado por la muerte de su hija. Su condena fue en parte debido a que el jurado se mostró fotografías de una puerta del armario, con bocas de acceso manual en el mismo. Se comprobó más tarde que este daño ocurrido antes de que David incluso se mudó a la casa.
En 1991 David condena fue revocada cuando la Corte de Apelaciones de Illinois anuló la condena pura y simple, al considerar que las pruebas contra él no había sido más que eso probatorio contra su esposa. El asesinato de Jaclyn sigue sin resolverse.
