The Swedish government says it will not extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States if there is risk of being sentenced to death for revealing state secrets through your web controversial.
"We will never turn a person who is threatened by the death penalty", said Cecilia Riddselius Tuesday, deputy director of criminal affairs and international cooperation at the Swedish Ministry of Justice, told the German newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau.
"Before deciding on the possibility that Assange be extradited to the United States this country to Sweden should ensure that the prisoner would be executed in any case," said a senior official at the Justice of the Scandinavian country. Riddselius recalled also that American justice has not taken any steps to formally request the extradition of Assange to Sweden, as you have not done with the British authorities.
The Swedish justice claims Assange about allegations of two women who accuse him of sexually assaulted if any. Some charges he has repeatedly denied.
WikiLeaks founder, 41, takes refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since June 19, when violated house arrest he was under. Ecuador's government on Thursday granted asylum to the "disappointment" of the British executive.
Assange was arrested in London in December 2010 by order of the Prosecutor of Sweden and his dedication to this country was decided by three British courts, the last Supreme-the-highest court, on June 14.
Correa warning to London about a possible entry into the embassy
Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa has said this morning that the British authorities would commit "suicide" if penetrate its embassy in London to arrest Assange.
"If UK violated Ecuadorian sovereignty would be suicide because then could violate British embassies anywhere in the world," said Correa, in an interview with Ecuador TV. Should the British threat materializes, the president warned that Ecuador "react firmly," although "the law in hand" to enforce respect for international law, which provides for the inviolability of diplomatic missions .

The Assange case has provoked many reactions in the Andean country. Hundreds of people gathered Monday in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil to express their support for the Government's decision to grant diplomatic asylum to Assange. The largest demonstration took place in the Plaza de la Independencia of Quito, where hundreds of citizens, social organizations and legislators gathered to defend the "sovereign decision" of Ecuador.
In parallel, in Guayaquil, held vigil calling for national sovereignty. Members of the Revolutionary Left Movement and a large group of citizens marched from the park to the Centenary British Consulate.
