Household services and transportation, two of the most common consumption in any family, are responsible for much of the expected increase in the cost of living as a result of the VAT increase which comes into force on 1st of September. The electricity, gas, water or telephone is expensive. And moving from one place to another will also cost more. With the implementation of the measure, the transport levy rises from 8% to 10%, to which must be added the high price that some regions have already been applied. And the tax on the sale of new cars, for which demand is at minimum, going from 18% to 21%. A blow to users and traders when the Spanish economy is in recession.

The ultimate beneficiary is the used car sector, which only applies to capital gains tax. Seven of every 10 vehicles sold in 2012 will be used, according to the National Association of Motor Vehicle Dealers.
