El pleno del Congreso de los Diputados debatirá el próximo martes la admisión a trámite de la Iniciativa Legislativa Popular (ILP) que pretende convertir la fiesta de los toros en Bien de Interés Cultural. De este modo, continúa un proceso que se inició en marzo del año pasado cuando la Federación de Entidades Taurinas de Cataluña entregó al presidente de la Cámara Baja, Jesús Posadas, más de 500.000 firmas en apoyo de los toros; si, finalmente, la iniciativa cuenta con el necesario refrendo parlamentario, la tauromaquia quedará blindada en todo el territorio nacional.
De momento, Juan Manuel Albendea, diputado del PP y presidente de la Comisión de Cultura del Congreso, será el ponente que defenderá en nombre de su partido la propuesta, que, en principio, solo cuenta con los votos populares. De hecho, parece que los socialistas no han mostrado un excesivo interés en que la ILP se debata en estos momentos, y han sido varias las discrepancias surgidas en el seno de la Junta de Portavoces que aprobó el orden del día del próximo pleno.
Si la admisión a trámite resulta aprobada, pasará, a continuación a la Comisión de Cultura que, en el plazo de un mes, la remitirá al Senado. Si en la Cámara Alta no se producen enmiendas se publicará inmediatamente en el Boletín Oficial del Estado y entrará en vigor; si el documento final sufre retoques deberá ser discutido de nuevo en el pleno del Congreso antes de su aprobación final.
Como se recordará la Iniciativa Legislativa Popular la puso en marcha la Federación de Entidades Taurinas de Cataluña, que preside Luis María Gibert, a raíz de que el Parlamento de Cataluña decidiera en el año 2010 la prohibición de los festejos taurinos en esa Comunidad Autónoma. El 22 de marzo del año pasado se entregaron al presidente del Congreso de los Diputados más de 500.000 firmas a favor de que la fiesta de los toros sea declarada Bien de Interés Cultural. Aceptadas las firmas, se inició un proceso parlamentario que entra ahora en su recta final y puede suponer el espaldarazo definitivo para que los toros no puedan ser prohibidos en todo el territorio nacional.

The full House of Representatives on Tuesday discussed the admissibility Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) which aims to make the bullfighting in a Cultural.
