It was a matter of time before the six unions reach health table where they have done this morning. Seated at the same table, the six representatives have publicly announced that four days of strike convened for all health and non-health (75,000 people) working in the public sector. The plant of the entire health sector privatization plan of the president, Ignacio González, becomes official. The six union organizers are SATSE (nursing), CCOO, AMYTS (doctors), CSIT-UP, UGT, and USAE (nursing assistants). Workers have called a four-day strike on 26 and 27 November and 4 and 5 December, to protest against the so-called Sustainability Guarantee Scheme Public Health System, which includes privatizing the management of six hospitals built in 2008 , convert other two (The Princess and Carlos III) and outsource 10% of health centers.
The call of unions overlaps with that a few days ago announced the Association of Specialists Optional Madrid (AFEM), which in just a few months of existence has brought together nearly 900 associates. In a meeting at the College of Physicians voted for indefinite strike: starts on the 26th and will be from Monday to Thursday every week. Overlaps therefore with six unions.
A score of closures in the public hospitals against regional government health plan has joined this morning by a dozen union members, who have entered a meeting room next to the office of the Minister of Health, Javier Fernández Lasquetty at the headquarters of the Department of Customs Street. Responsible for this department have prevented the passage the media who sought closure report.
Spokesmen for the unions said this morning at a press conference that his goal is "withdrawal" plan. "For the first time, historically, we have come together. What is at stake is the common house behind the system," said the secretary general of Amyts, Julián Ezquerra. Unions have estimated that privatization and other measures included in the plan will mean the loss of about 8,000 jobs in healthcare Madrid, in all categories. "All together we can stop this; divided, no," he insisted Ezquerra.
UGT spokesman, Manuel Rodriguez, said that the reasons "are clear: the withdrawal of the action plan presented last October 31 and Article 13 of the Act to amend the 2012 budget, which provides for the disappearance of 26 categories of non-medical personnel. " The unions note that, this time, the working conditions are not the reason for the protests, but the defense of public health.
The public health workers who have mobilized since October 31, when Gonzalez announced the health plan, have called for a demonstration on Sunday leaving at noon from several hospitals to merge Neptune. The call is made by the Coordinator of Hospitals. The so-called trial run under the theme "Public health is not sold, defends", will be 13 hours of Neptune bound to the Puerta del Sol
