The 3.3% of purchases made in September installment has fallen into arrears, according to data released Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INE). This percentage increases again, breaking a streak of three-month decline.
The number of commercial time purchased and returned unpaid family and business decreased by 9% compared with the same month in 2011, to add 304,610 in its fifth consecutive month of declines.
The total amount of commercial paper outstanding returned totaled 533 million euros in September, down 16.2% over the same month of 2011, while the average value of these effects fell by 7.9% and stood at 1,750 euros.
The average amount of expired (2,155 euros) was higher than the unpaid (1,750 euros), but lower than the effects paid (2,173 euros).
Of the 533 million euros that totaled unpaid bills of exchange, 63.2% were banks, 29.8% for savings banks and 6.6% for credit unions.
74.1% of the amount of unpaid bills of exchange in September corresponds to effects on portfolio and 25.9% to take a management fee.
Extremadura had the highest percentage (4.8%) of the amount of unpaid bills on arrears against Navarre and the Basque Country, which had the lowest, at 2.8% in both cases.
The region with the highest growth in the amount of the unpaid bills of exchange was Asturias, with 5.6%, while Cantabria had the biggest fall, with 51.4%.
