Government estimates that spending on pensions this year did not correspond to reality was already clear. But as the months go the distance grows. Social Security in November allocated 7,499,000 euros to pay the pensions, 4.6% more than the same month of 2011, according to data released Thursday by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security. The growth rate of the month of the year penúlmo has accelerated, in October, the somatostatin was 4.4%.
So far this year the contributory pension expenditure grows at a rate of 4.4%, which is far longer than that provided for the Executive, by 2.9%. Furthermore, it should be noted that this increase was calculated on the budgeted expenditure for 2011 and not on what was spent last. If the starting point had been the latter, the projected increase would have been 2.3%.
With two payrolls (December and Christmas bonus), there is no room for spending can be corrected especially if one considers that in recent months the trend that was in the early months of a slow deceleration has been reversed.
Another point to consider is the appointment, crucial for pensioners, for next week. The National Statistics Institute published the November inflation data and, based on it, the government will decide whether to upgrade pensions next year. This decision would mean an additional cost of over 5,000 million euros. The Ministry of Finance has announced that there is room even though this year the Executive had to dip into the reserve fund to pay. The Bank of Spain has shown, by contrast, about prudence and even called containment pension expenditure due to the progressive aging of the population.
Of the total of 7,499 intended to contributory benefits, most of 5,128 million under the payroll monthly pensions (+5.3% compared to November 2011), 1,406,000 to widow's pensions (+3, 2%) 838 700 000 for permanent disability (+2.2%) to 107.1 million orphans (+8%) and 18.5 million in favor of relatives (+2.8%).
The average pension reached earlier this month 953.70 per month, representing a 3.5% increase over the same month of 2011. Meanwhile, the average pension system, comprising the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and family allowances), stood at the beginning of November at 834.99 euros per month, representing an annual increase 3.1%.
Specifically, the average pension for widows in November stood at 603.47 euros per month, up 2.6%, while the permanent disability reached an average amount of 890.09 euros per month, an increase of 2%. Also, the average pension amounted to 365.48 euros orphan monthly, 1.5% more than in November 2011, while the pro-family stood at 487.46 euros per month, with a rise of 2 9%.
In the eleventh month of the year, the number of contributory Social Security totaled 8,980,993, representing an increase of 1.4% over the same month last year. Of this amount, 5,377,598 were of retirement pensions, with a rise of 1.8% compared to November 2011, while pensions for widows 2,329,923 (+0.6%), 942,332 permanent disability (+0, 2%), 293,089 orphans (+6.4%) and 38,051 in favor of relatives (-0.1%).

Basque Country, Asturias and Madrid recorded higher average pensions, with EUR 1031.69, 989.88 and 988.60 euros per month, respectively.
