Students Catalan ESO first drag difficulties in mathematics or languages studied in separate groups to the rest of their peers. It is what provides the Intensive Program Improvement (PIM) that will be launched next year in public and subsidized those who choose to join. The project is designed for students who drag difficulties in these subjects in primary and it is hoped that these can be overcome during the first year of high school. "We need to strengthen the core subjects so that everyone has the same chance of graduating at the end of high school," defended the Minister of Education, Irene Rigau, at the Education Commission of the Catalan Parliament.
With this measure, included in the plan to combat school failure, the Government hopes to improve the number of graduates in secondary (one in five students do not get the title) and early school dropout (not continued with the baccalaureate or FP), which affects 24% of the students.
The program is particularly focused on improving instrumental subjects-mathematics and languages-which are usually more resistant to the students in assessments. The ministry has been estimated between 10% and 15% students-they are the ones that get worse grades in primary assessments carried out by the Government, which could be added to the reinforcement program, which is compulsory for students. The schools will assess each case and decide which students should be separated from the group.

The implementation of this system, however, is not accompanied by a provision of additional teachers to meet booster groups. Rigau argues that schools already have enough teachers and enough to "better organize templates". Currently, there are already different formulas tutoring. In nursery and primary takes place School Support Custom (SEP), for both gifted students and those with learning difficulties.
