Economy Minister Luis de Guindos, announced Wednesday that the Official Credit Institute (ICO) and his German counterpart have signed an agreement to jointly pay 2,000 million euros to Spanish SMEs, both for long-term financing for capital.
During the control session the Government in Congress, Guindos said that it is an agreement that occurs after himself and his German counterpart, Wolfgang Schäuble, reached an agreement in April. The aim is to establish formulas for German investors provide capital to Spanish SMEs that are solvent, with the ultimate aim of reducing unemployment, especially youth.
To Guindos, excess debt is one of the fundamental problems facing the Spanish economy and that must be corrected, but it must be said that there is credit support to SMEs. So said the ICO has had a "fundamental" role in this regard, adding that in 2012 provided funding for almost 30,000 million euros, up 32% from a year earlier.

For this year, the minister said the government has reformed the role of the ICO and has provided 22,000 million lines mediation, while such lines have been streamlined to focus funding support to SMEs and internationalization. He also said that they have promoted alternatives to bank capital, as a line of 1,000 million to buy bonds of SMEs.
